Introducing…Schoolgirl Style’s “VINTAGE CIRCUS” Classroom Collection!
A few years ago, my friend, Maria (from the blog, Kinder Craze) used my Rainbow Chalkboard collection to create the most dreamy classroom for her Kindergarten students.

Since then, this collection became wildly popular! I mean, how could it NOT?!?
LOOK at this room!!!
Well, after a couple years, Maria was ready for a change. I can remember our conversation when we were brainstorming ideas for a new collection…she told me that she wanted RED. I was actually shocked because I KNOW Maria very well! Maria loves pastel colors, especially pinks and yellows. Why in the world would she want red?!? I was definitely very very surprised. After some discussion, I told her that I planned to create a CIRCUS theme and maybe this new collection would work for her?
I secretly wanted to do this collection in my own room and envisioned this over and over in my space, however, I knew how bad Maria wanted a collection with these very specific colors. I explained to her that I had plans to create this new theme in pink, coral, turquoise, yellow, and RED.
There were several pictures floating around Pinterest that completely inspired me…
Here are a few examples:
I also wanted to give this new collection an aged, vintage look…something that is SO trendy right now!
I didn’t have to go any further.
Anything with pink, coral, yellow…and VINTAGE…that’s SO Maria!
I went to work designing the new theme and meanwhile, Maria started to prepare for her new space. She came to the Schoolgirl Style Shop and took home a big box of poms, lanterns, daisies, and borders to get started!
As the summer started to wind down, we both went our separate ways and we were SO busy trying to get our rooms finished before the kids walked in at the end of August.
If you follow Maria on her Kinder Craze blog, she revealed her classroom back in October. People were anxiously awaiting to see what she came up with this year.
I’m sure you can agree, the results are simply stunning.
Maria used my circus poster prints and had them enlarged to create this focal point in her Reading area. How amazing is that?!? The collection actually comes with several circus posters to choose from. Just take a thumb drive to your favorite office supply store and have them enlarge the image as big as you would like it. I also like how Maria added the colorful daisies around the poster!
Again, Maria enlarged several cutout images in the collection to create this jaw dropping circus skyline! Hands down, this is my favorite part of the room!
Maria created this adorable name banner with the decorative paper that is included in the collection.

The horses and jeweled circus top were made just for this specific application. What a great way to bring in color AND tie your theme together with this circus themed mobile.
Here is another view of Maria’s Reading corner. I love the pretty fabrics she chose to make this area comfy and appealing to her students!
Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. I love LOVE using metal cans in my classroom and embellishing them with the pretty coordinated paper. This is a great way to incorporate more pattern and color into your design.
How cute is this?!? Maria added these stars to a plain, white chair. The binder cover comes with the collection and in several design choices.
Maria used a turquoise ombre, red chevron, and the chalkboard dots and swirl borders…all of these can be found in the Schoolgirl Style Shop!
Another FANTASTIC idea…use the wide striped red/white border to create circus stripes in your classroom! *Border can be purchased in the Schoolgirl Style Shop.
“READ” letters can also be found in the Vintage Circus collection…
Here’s a close up…

2013 Classroom Reveal {At Last!}
After Maria finished her classroom, it was time for me to prep all of the files and get them ready for the Schoolgirl Style Shop. As I went through each file, the ideas kept flowing! I thought of more applications for the pieces in this collection. I thought of more “must have” products. I revised, edited, revised, added more, and revised again. This collection took me months and months to create. It is, by far, my biggest classroom decor collection yet!
I decided to stage the collection in my own photo shoot room to show you all of the pieces that you didn’t see in Maria’s room!
Here we go!
